Can you say you miss someone if you haven't talked to them in months, despite the internet allowing you to talk to them whenever you wished.
But what if it's not a person but a group of people you miss, an environment, a community. You can't very well message all of them.
The internet doesn't entirely have a solution to that I don't think.
@oneirofaerie There is no group of people that can't be replaced by a similarly conformed group of people, elsewhere. But at the same time, there is no replacement for shared spaces and laughter and time.
I'm tired of conversations that go "how've you been? How's the city? How's everyone? Fine, oh you know, chill"
Over and over.
And the conversations we used to have just don't happen over text. And how often did we talk one on one? We were in groups, in events, drinking, smoking, writing.
I miss New York
And I miss my New York friends
But I'm not sure I should be allowed to say that
It's been so long
