also in the monster rancher zone: after testing like 10-20 games i'm pretty confident that the issue is with ISO files. summoning a monster from disc swapping a BIN file works perfectly, but ISO files haven't worked at all. this is after disabling "automatic gamefixes", bc it will crash 100% of the time if you don't do that.

i rly went and hunted for the most third party shovelware-looking ps2 games bc they tended to be much smaller files, and almost all of them were in bin format, not sure if there's a connection there. don't really have a clue what i'm doing
