ive been listening to the RENT soundtrack lately and i have to say
i didnt realize it was about AIDS for a really long time
before you laugh i'll remind you that i also didnt know that fiddler on the roof was about jewish people
i didnt do a lot of critical thinking as a teen
i think the RENT thing is a little more fair because nobody teaches you about the AIDS crisis and i didnt learn until i was like, 20? sad, i know. i watched RENT as a teen w my aunt and she was like "why does everyone in this movie have aids?" and i was like "oh thats what they're talking about?"
