We paid the electric bill (thanks to the people who helped!!) but we still have to pay rent ($750) within a few days and a car payment ($180) shortly after that. If the car were to be repossessed or we could not pay rent, my girlfriend would have to move home with her parents, to whom she has not come out. finally told my mom that I don't want to speak to her if she can't be supportive of me instead of taking advantage of my emotional labor and trying to make me feel guilty about things. I don't exactly feel better, but at least now I can feel anxious about my own problems in peace.

I wish I had learned years ago that I don't have to tolerate abusive behavior from my mother. Now that I don't rely on her for a single thing, I can just... ignore her :)
