@Rumpelcita ohh! I suppose that makes sense, because fountain pens are basically mechanical quills. You don't need to dip them in ink, so futuristic lol!
@Rumpelcita it's called a quill :)
@punsandpotions @dconley the cover is BEAUTIFUL
This seems like a relevant Kickstarter... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/katiewest/becoming-dangerous-a-book-about-ritual-and-resista?ref=7x76pz

uuuuuuggghhhhh this song is sooo gooooodddddd
I want Ariana to choke me with her hair
another noteworthy artist in this genre was Pumpuang Duangjan พุ่มพวง ดวงจันทร์, who combined luuk tung music with thai pop music (called "String Music") to make it danceable. She was very popular, but was taken advantage of by managers, lovers, and promoters, and consequently was unable to afford treatment for a blood disorder that killed her at 30.

beautiful woman, beautiful voice, beautiful instrumentation.
in case anyone is interested in hearing more of Chaai Meuangsing's (ชาย เมืองสิงห์) earlier luuk tung music:

It's really nice easy listening, I find it's good to listen to while I'm showering or falling asleep, or when I need music to drift away into. The instruments are a mix of Thai and Western, and they're applied together in really enjoyable ways.
@senlovecraft @myrrhashad I should add that I don't know whether they require you to be in the US or not. I suspect that they don't, but I've never asked, so I could be wrong.
@myrrhashad @senlovecraft
It's 100% at-home. You pick up jobs and submit them on the website, and you get a timer that shows how long the algorithm determines that job should take (based on word count etc). That same algorithm determines the payout; the estimated time is multiplied by $20/hr. and that's what goes into your account the moment you submit the feedback. Payout is very, very simple and I've never had a single problem with any aspect of the process. :)
@ravenna probably the only website where people like to argue more than twitter
@ravenna because tumblr XD
Side note, if anyone is interested in applying to work for this company, feel free to PM me and I can link you to it. I don't get a referral or anything so don't worry about it being shady. The base pay is $20/hr., and increases based on how well you do.
I think they generally strongly prefer people who either have a higher-level education of some kind (I have a BA) and/or work in academics (I work in a university library). The acceptance rate is supposedly about 18% which is kind of selective.
It's very straightforward, no pressure really. Many of the students speak English as a second language. I've loved doing it for the past year or so.
I'm fighting the urge to take a red pen to this document and send it back lol
My pay is dependent on the quality of my spelling and grammar (among other things).
IT HURTS BAD
Good lord. So I work for an essay-editing service that gets lots of work from guidance counselors, mostly to edit university admissions essays. I haven't edited for them in a few months because there just wasn't any work.
During that time, they apparently significantly changed their process. Cool, fine. I hit them up to ask about unlocking my account and all's good, I'm grandfathered in or whatever, but they have all these new protocols I need to learn first.
I'm reading through them and there are tons of spelling and grammar errors >.>
THE IRONY HURTS
There is a new online ESL company that offers virtual classes to Chinese children (there are so many of these companies), and I'm considering signing up, but I'd have to do the lessons when I get home from work in the morning and my brain is usually not functioning well at that time >.>
Okay so #thaitunes time, I don't think I've ever posted this song before. This is a 2014 remake of the song เมียพี่มีชู้ (miia-pii mii chuu) "My wife is cheating on me" by Chaai Meuangsing:

Meuangsing is a well-known artist in the luuk tung ลูกทุ่ง "Child of the Field" genre, basically Thai country music. He recorded the original decades ago, I'm not sure when. It's interesting how dancey the remake is compared to the original:

I love them both ^_^
