@ikea_femme My feelings on that character are heavily mixed. A trans woman being played by a cis man is gross no matter how you slice it, but it's worth pointing out that she's treated with a lot of dignity. Detective Cooper knew her before transition, but when she shows up and introduces herself as Denise the response is just "OK," not even shock or anything. Later he deadnames her, she corrects him, and he apologizes (pretty genuinely, if I remember correctly).

So she's not a trope, and I don't think her being trans is really even played up much at all, but still, it's basically bad drag.

Something I didn't understand as an undergrad student, and still don't as a librarian at the same school, is why students here have a tradition of going out and partying on Wednesday night. I mean these kids go HARD on Wednesday; my Thursday morning classes were ALWAYS full of people who were super hung-over.

Is this a thing elsewhere? I mean Wednesday is literally treated like it's Friday night, they run the drunk buses and all (which is a good thing).

How disgusting that Square Enix is scabbing the SAG strike by replacing its original voice actors for Life Is Strange with non-union ones. The original voice actor for Chloe is apparently "heartbroken."

I didn't even play this game (I watched my girlfriend play it), nor do I want to, but this kind of shit is just unacceptable. None of the actors have broken the strike but studios literally could not care less.

I'm opposed to the idea of a "sarcasm font." It defeats the purpose of sarcasm, which is to say one thing and mean the opposite. If you are unable to make it clear that you don't mean what you're saying, you should say what you mean directly instead. Most situations in which sarcasm doesn't read well are ones where it is not really appropriate anyway.

I also dislike the use of /s , but I suspect there are disability implications there that I'm not aware of.
