Whenever someone tells me what university they go to I immediately try to think of what their interlibrary loan borrower string would be and whether I've sent books there before lol
On a more shady level I wonder what their max ILL cost is, and by extension how much they do or do not nurture their library patrons 👀
on the other hand I think we shouldn't be charging for interlibrary loans at all... this library will literally never hurt for money, and our ILL income is dwarfed by the money we spend borrowing from other libraries
in the communist society libraries will be free everywhere
in related news, we're shifting onto a new library software system this year, so I don't have to use ugly-as-sin Millennium anymore ^_^

@ebeth god, it's just awful. the student employees can barely use it and they grew up on computer programs.
@ebeth we're moving to Alma in December. I'm only just now getting access to a sandbox sort of thing where I can test things I have a use for; most of the talk so far has been collections and digital humanities stuff
@noxy what are you switching to? we went over to Polaris which is pretty okay, there are too many separate windows and like 3 different ways to do everything but it's still way easier to navigate
