fun fact:
note the ์ above the letter ส, which makes the "s" sound. the symbol is called การันต์ gaaran, and is used in spelling loanwords to silence letters (usually syllable-ending ones) that are are not pronounced in Thai, to maintain the original form.
also note that the name of the symbol itself contains a silenced letter, ต, which makes the "dt" sound. it is a loanword from Sanskrit or Pali, I'm not sure which. :)
