Started posting in a forum for people with my personality disorder, and I REALLY didn't realize that a bunch of shut-ins would care so much about being derisive of my gender identity
By nature, people with Schizoid Personality Disorder do not socialize much. I have basically no close friends, save for my girlfriend and one coworker. I don't speak to my family. So I (foolishly) thought that I might find some kind of camaraderie on a forum for other people with my disorder. But no, I was reminded as always that no matter what group it is, where you are, what you have... people are awful and they will ruin your time if you let them
@noxy I'm not judgemental about it but I uh, keep that in mind at all times.
I have a roommate with schizoid personality disorder and well, beyond current events and politics we don't talk about much.
@Elizafox You're definitely right, and I knew that going in, I think I was just overly optimistic. It is a helpful reminder though, I appreciate that. I don't really talk about my SPD much, because people assume I'll act that way, but I've done a LOT of hard work to break free from it as much as I can. My three-year relationship with my girlfriend is a testament to that, I think
I want to note that Mastodon is, so far, the only exception to this rule in my experience
@noxy People with that personality disorder don't tend to like anyone who doesn't share similar interests
