@cosine i've used 12 GiB in one python process when computing a PCA of 2 GiB of input data, but besides that sorta thing it's pretty rare for me tbh

the new (old) deerhoof album is pretty cool, been listening to that a lot lately

just got back from the market with a crateful of fresh cats

always gotta do trigonometry out loud… it's probably the area of math i have the hardest time conceptualizing in my head

game idea: it starts with Windows 10's "All your files are exactly where you left them" screen. you then have 5 minutes to find your scrambled files before the system reboots itself for the next big update.

I don't like it when you can see ambient occlusion fading out towards the edges of the screen 😔

@modernmodron I just noticed you can attach more than one gif to a post. it's the futureeeee

unfortunately for stock image sites, pictures with heavy watermarking are now an aesthetic of their own

i kinda wanna rewrite my neural network library so instead of executing everything inline, it spits out a standalone* python file for the whole network. it would make it easy to backup and reproduce results!
*needs numpy and scipy obviously

heh, taking out LayerNorms from my network results in accuracies of 0.20 ± 0.08.
and just realized that saying 20% ± 8% seems kinda misleading… like it's not 8% of 20%, it's percent as a unit! do i write 20±8% then? augh
