I feel like people, especially white people, don't take Cupcakke seriously because she's a black woman that embraces her sexuality and isn't ashamed of any part of herself. They'll retweet her music videos about having sex because they get humor out of it yet don't give her a chance or listen to her more serious stuff about racism and other issues just because she talks about sex/sexuality and they think that means "oh she can't be taken seriously because she's sexual".
@Femmebun@notgomen she's also not light skin and doesn't try at all to conform to any kind of respectability. She's proud of the black girlhood that has become trendy but still considered "ghetto" and "ratchet" on black girls like her who PIONEERED that shit and really came from that and embraces it. So people don't take her seriously, as a proudly "ghetto" black femme even though she's just as smart as she is funny.
@rhythmgoddesss@Femmebun Exactly! And she knows EXACTLY what she's doing. She's a smart af girl and she's taking risks with the fact that she's so brash and bold and "ghetto" and "ratchet". She's everything people hate and while people are disgusting in the way they speak of/to her, she knows it's HER they're talking about.
@Femmebun@notgomen nah you're coolin lol as long as you never yourself actually refer to people/things as ghetto or ratchet. Cause that's something I regularly have to call people out for--ESPECIALLY ratchet bc that term is entirely rooted in misogynoir.
