Hey, FYI: There's a charity speedrun stream benefiting the Transgender Law Center this weekend!

Stream:

The runners include GDQ alumni like PrincessProto and EnchantressOfNumbers, and the game line up is actually really unique with a heavy focus on romhacks and randomizers. The final block on Sunday night is runs/races of all three of the Zelda 1, 2 and 3 randomizers in a row.
ok hi sorry i dont post much here but things havent been great and i just ahvent had the energy
this is obviously true on the internet, where the algorithms of malevolent capitalists via google and facebook and netflix and so on comprehensively shape the reality you see around you. but it is no less true in physical spaces, where the capitalists who own billboards and newspapers and radio stations are the ones controlling your reality. it is useful to capitalists to preserve the *illusion* that the people have free speech or some semblance thereof, but it is only that: an illusion
when you live in a capitalist society, the speech you see or hear is determined almost entirely by money. either other people's money, when they pay to have advertisements (offer in the form of news articles or other "content") shoved down your eyeballs, or your own money when you pay to choose the things you see. often you pay to choose what you see, your "experience" is still often dictated by those who are paying to force their ideas upon you
under capitalism, with that infrastructure privatized, what you can say and who can hear you is determined by wealth. you, or someone with wealth who finds your words useful to themselves, have to literally pay to say it and pay to be heard; this is the opposite of free in every sense.
under socialism, with print and broadcast equipment and communications infrastructure controlled socially, you can say whatever you want (within reason), and the audience you have is determined democratically. people who want to listen can seek you out and do so, and if the people decide your words are important or worth spreading, they can be spread more widely
a friend said yesterday something to the effect of "there is no free speech as long as capitalists own the means of publication" and there is a lot of truth to that
when I don't know what a word means, I look it up.
when cis ppl don't know what a word means, they decide it's a slur.
