the weird thing about doctors is everyone treats them as if they're a capitalist service but they arent.
or rather, they are, just not subject to ~*~market forces~*~ all that much
(it doesnt, they're either incompitent or wanting your $, or dont believe you because you dont look white and male and cis and NT -- leave them and find another)
@morganastra well right, they're capitalist but dont work to the forces capitalists think make capitalism work, is basically my point
@morganastra they arent self-adjusting-to-best-good in the same way most things arent
@morganastra but the invisible hand must be believed in more than god or their worldview falls apart so
@morganastra my fav thing is that if your doctor/hospital rents an mri or just bought one, they write more mri tests to ameliorate the cost
@morganastra even when CAT/etc/relatively-cheap-ass-xray would do
@morganastra or, lmao, the doctor who wanted to teach me qi gong for my illness instead of trying to treat it so she could presumably then blame me for not sticking to the woo when somehow she learned enough to teach after two seminars
@morganastra and also waste appointment time by doing it, like she already was by trying to convince me -- i only stuck with her that long bc she was perscribing stims but her saying i should do altmed stuff while *going to a doctor not for that* was kind of the last straw
@morganastra i mean on top of the fact that she along with every other trans trans doctor i've had made really kinda creepy comments abt me and almost flirty and urrgh
@nire I mean on a larger scale the medical industry in the US is extremely capitalist, but yeah individual doctors are usually guided more by bigotry than profit motive
