a bit about this site, for the new folks:
- it was made by queer communist furries, for queer communist furries. everybody's welcome, but there are a ton of queers, communists, and furries on here.
- nazis are banned on most instances including the main one. very explicitly. it's in the CoC, which you can read here: https://mastodon.social/about/more
- mastodon is "federated" which means there are lots of servers you can sign up on and they all talk to each other. there were some good toots explaining this back in the day, going to try to find those
@morganastra an important thing to talk about also is that instances only federate w/ instances ppl follow ppl on, so smaller/more focused instances tend to follow less awful people
@morganastra but until theres a 'post to local timeline', good instances where most people can be trusted to practice good follow-and-follower hygene basically make it safe
