Trust: hard won, easily lost @nire

hey

hey heres a tip:

you dont need to know everything other people are saying if you dont understand the language

its ok

like

thats way better than autotranslation

autotranslation (and even translation in general) strips context and nuance and lots of things

idk implimenting things because people acted entitled enough that they felt they needed to see everything everyone said is maybe not the way to go with features

@nire

truth on the tip: people need to accept that other language stuff is gonna be there and all

(but I will say autotranslation as a tool for gist-grasping or learning differences between languages *can* sometimes be very useful)

I like having the option, but not by default. Is it doing it by default? O_o Because that's gonna, um, suck. Esp if it doesn't have a "click to revert", at the very least. :\

@sydneyfalk gist-grasping is fine, but the problem is that so many forget that machine translation is hella flawed, when its automatic instead of press a button

@nire

Fully understood, and a frustrating thing. If it's not with at least a tag about autotranslation + a 'revert' button, I think it's a mistake of misunderstanding that's gonna blow up eventually. :\

Where's it happening right now? What's it look like? (My instance collects stuff slowly, and I'm not sure what version my instance admin's running, anyway, so -- I don't think I can see what you're seeing.)
