i'm skeptical of mastodon instances focused on specific interests because i don't actually think sharing interests is a good predictor of whether or not i'll get along with someone. it's more about shared values, which are more nuanced and difficult to communicate, but you kinda know if a person/community shares your values pretty quickly. instances like cybre.space, witches.town, and glitch.social are more in line with what i imagine good online community building to look like
