@ajroach42 @guerrillarain it was funny, you didn't used to need a passport to go to any of the Commonwealth Countries from Canada either, so while lots of Canadians travelled internationally, most of them didn't have passports until the US changed their rules. there was a massive backlog for a few years at the passport office when that went through in the states.

@guerrillarain @ajroach42 fuck. me too. I remember travelling as a kid to Montana, and all we needed was a health card to prove we had health insurance. not even ID.

our two countries used to brag about having the largest undefended border in the world. and then Bush happened, and it's been an increasing nightmare ever since.

@guerrillarain this feels like it must be a fairly american thing. like, there's definitely annoying clueless white guys who do this here too, but most people have the good sense to realize it's not a huge deal. but I get the impression most people in the US don't even have a passport?

I love when I repro a problem once locally, then re-run the exact same command, and it works, and then I can't repro anymore.

I'm sure this means the problem is so deep in the stack that it's not even worth debugging. *sigh*

the only way gun control legislation will get drafted in the US is if old white republicans are the primary targets of gun violence instead of the primary cause.

ALSO thought it looks like it's has a whopping 256GB onboard, and it can sync the stuff you take to your computer over wifi. so in that case, if you're having space issues, it's on you. 😉

@cute_weeds oh sure. but insanely large memory cards aren't terribly expensive anymore. and in most cases you're going to do those adjustments on the camera and then squash down to a normal format.

and at least for me it isn't a big deal because I'm the type of girl who takes a bunch of pictures, then deletes all but 2-3 and then works with those. but if you're the kind of person who just takes hundreds of photos and keeps them, could eventually become an issue. backup to your local computer often, I guess! 😄

and hopefully they're doing something smart with the local image compression. would love to get my hands on the output files and see.

like multiple sensors at multiple exposures and depth of field, meaning you can dynamically adjust the zoom, exposure, and depth of field after the fact? that's fucking BANANAS. WANNNNNNT
