fucking, why did it take me overwriting 2GB of the disk with zeros to be able to change the partition type. gpt is fucked up yo.
@ashkitten sounds like your gpt tools are doing bad things? I highly recommend the gdisk family of tools, they do the right things all the time, especially for stuff like SSDs where other partitioning tools will let you do things that shoot yourself in the face, like non-aligned partitions and stuff.
gpt itself is a huge improvement over what came before, but a lot of the older tools that were retrofitted with support (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, FDISK!!!!) do a really bad job. 😔
@ashkitten oh yeah parted does funky stuff. it's super annoying. I've taken to just resizing things myself because I don't trust it anymore.
@nergdron yeah i mean, it's sorta funky but it makes me feel better about doing things because i know if it gets fucked up it won't be only my fault

@nergdron yeah i was writing it with gdisk but parted still used the old partition table i think it was at a different offset
