@bea forward error correction. specifically, I'm making a little app in Go that's a workalike to par2 or zfec, but hopefully faster / more efficient. it's a nice exercise even if it doesn't work out, but I'm fairly confident it'll come together.
tl&dr: it creates parity data for a file so that if up to some percentage of the file is corrupted, it can be repaired using the parity data. great for ensuring long term stability of backups, or safety of data over unreliable transmission mediums.
