arghhhh all I did is install a desktop environment and restart my computer and my screen resolution is stuck at 640x480 arghhhh Linux is dumb
@lycaon hahaha. it's definitely more work. which desktop environment did this to you??
@nergdron I don't know, either budgie or pantheon, but I uninstalled them both and it still doesn't work I'm gonna shit my fuck
@lycaon did one of them install an xorg.conf that's screwing up your settings? I'd just move /etc/X11/xorg.conf aside and restart your login manager, and see how it all looks. X display driver and settings autodetection is usually really solid on the majority of hardware these days.
@lycaon oh if the file is missing, that's fine, then it's definitely using the autodetection. next step is look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log, and look for lines about setting the resolution, and see what it's shitty X11 deal is.
as an aside. I can't wait for Wayland or similar to replace X. it's so old and cruft. π
