listening to Against Me! has become a spiritual experience for me. Laura and I are almost the same age, and everything she writes these days just punches me in the gut.
one day. one day i'm going to be like her. have that level of confidence in who i am. in being myself, out there for the world to see. making it all happen and not giving a fuck what people think.
@Eve i'd missed them before. but i got into them (like many trans women) because of the album Transgender Disphoria Blues, the first one she put out after she came out.
and there's definitely some heavy trans feels on that album, and its followup, Shapeshift With Me.
I absolutely love both those albums, and I'm working backward from them and picking out all the obvious egg stuff. and just. honestly loving her and her music.
