@photopuck @morganastra 9-10 years after earning an IT management position with supervisory, budgetary, and many other leadership responsibilities, taking a step-up job into senior ITSM, and earning an MBA, I find most people I'm not in a mentoring role with dismiss one or both of my technical expertise and my leadership skills.
In my old pure-tech roles, many assumed I was fucking my boss (ick no on all instances) and/or told me I would never be taken seriously as a manager.

So we know both from somewhat rigorous studies and just from experience that women (and probably nonbinary people, though they were not explicitly included in the study) are better software engineers than men. But why is that? Survivor bias because we have to be twice as good just to get any recognition at all? Toxic masculinity making men worse at programming? Combination of the two? Something else entirely?
