@claire that's definitely not my experience even with evil-mode by itself but spacemacs's auto-evilivifaction thing works remarkably well to provide a pretty consistent ui experience across various modes. but i only use emacs as an IDE, not a mail/chat client or anything like that
@claire they're just more efficient too. most ppl at my office use evil-mode if not full on spacemacs
