Off-the-cuff meta question: when you see a locked account which is not clearly marked as private otherwise, and they give no "before you follow" instructions, what do you assume their policies are?

Coming from Twitter, I used to think that folks who were locked didn't want anyone they didn't know already trying to follow. Now I've realized that a lot of folks just use it to double-check new followers and make sure they aren't Bad People™.

it's surprising how many people...don't do that. honestly if they haven't bothered to read my profile and follow a simple instruction i probably don't want them seeing my locked posts.
