Me as a baby bi: why are lesbians so much quieter and angrier than cis gay men?
Me ten years later:...oh

👉@meena@glitch.social @meena

@Maenad is it because of…

…

sexism?

@meena I honestly wouldn't label it sexism because it's too small a label

It's a complicated thing including the fact that queer spaces are often dominated by gay men and women in them are often assumed to be allies.

There's also a lot of not - so - passive misgendering that goes on if you're a sexual person uninterested in most male attention.

@Maenad re that last part: in queer spaces?

which reminds me, i don't really like to call spaces dominated by gay men "queer"
a lot of gay men live a very specific conformity that i absolutely detest, because that niche is too tight for the rest of us, but seems comfortable enough to them.

@meena yes, in queer spaces. I have been "one of the guys" with gay guys an amount that should be impossible.
