Is there a good GUI image editor for Linux that isn't named after a slur for people with disabilities?

@noelle If you don't mind having Qt and KDE libraries on your system, why not give #Krita a try?

(I'd like to think that the people behind the other tool's nomenclature just didn't think it through, but you never know.)

@starbreaker @noelle At the beginning I'd say they maybe didn't think it through but their response to "oh hey, maybe not the best name" has been "fuck you we're keeping it"

@troubleMoney @noelle Last I heard (not that I agree) the official name was GNU Image Manipulation Program, and the acronym is an unfortunate coincidence.

The problem is that nobody actually uses the name; most people use the acronym, making it the de facto name..

@starbreaker @troubleMoney It's the other way around. Kimball and Mattis were "Pulp Fiction" fans and named their software "General Image Manipulation Program" to fit the acronym. It only became "GNU..." later, once Stallman signed off on it.

I'd love to see some enterprising design types fork GNU/IMP and rename it something as a flipoff

and ONLY refer to the original project forked from as GNU/IMP in the docs/attribution

heck, if I was a design type I'd do it just for fun, and only alter the interface and do some basic optimizations that hadn't already been done
