@Damn_Jehu in Western society it seems pretty insurmountable as labour in exchange for existence seems to be a core part of an identity
there's a fear of an infectious moral wastage of the entire population of it isn't kept busy
you can already see this fear / hate in the policing against longterm unemployed or disabled folks in many countires.
i often add the disclaimer "in Western society" to my political or philosophical opinions because i grew up in austria. but i was born in Bosnia. i spent the first seven years of my life there, and then many more summers.
we have a word in Bosnian, "divaniti". it has the same root as the "long, cushioned seat," in the west. but we use it to say "chatting with your neighbour over coffee, for about four hours"
