i set an alarm at 06:30, and got up at 07:30 to make it to a train by 08:45
fortunately, my appointment has been called off before i even left the house
@meena "Fortunately"
@Petra i don't have to leave the house
of course, the appointment was a psychiatrist appointment, so i'll have to wait a bit longer for my BRAIN SCAN that confirms that I"M COMPLETELY NORMAL.
@meena I'd have called it fortunate if it had been called off yesterday, Mx Normal
@Petra i'm out of bed, and i've had breakfast and coffee and tea
and now i can attend to my (digital) correspondence, which i've been putting off for two weeks!
@Petra or, more likely, i'll be procrastinating by writing codeโฆ
@meena That gif is hypnotising
@Petra i hope not
@meena That's not exactly a denial :P
@Petra i'm a dev/ops for hire
in big companies it's sometimes really confusing to know whether you're setting fires or putting them out
@meena How would that not be obvious?
@Petra imagine unclear organisational structured, political warefare between managers, the FUD and lack of communication between teams (often within teams!) resulting from that, dead-ends in ticketing systems, holes in monitoring, unkown, or non-existent owners of projects or systems.
now, make a change, reboot or kill of a system that's been down for 3 weeks, you'd think you're cleaning up, but suddenly someone comes up to you and is screaming in your face. it's fun.
(it's actually the reason i'm on vacation for 2 months now)
@meena You got chased across a continent by pitchfork-wielding database administrators?
@Petra i usually stay as far away from those as possible.
@meena Good plan. I think that's what my dad does...
@Petra my long-term plan is to replace database admins with a small puppet module, then mentor three juniors into shape to become database optimization specialists
but they can't know this, so don't tell anyone.
@meena My lips are *sealed*
@meena *squints*
You're not actually a professional tyre arsonist are you!?
