@puppy not really sure how big, but it was like every time i used zypper to do package stuff, as well as when i used yast.

and the documentation for getting rid of old snapshots through systemd was, shockingly enough, just entirely inadequate compared to "change this single yes/no setting in yast"

like, yast is good at what hasn't been gobbled up by other programs

@puppy well i wasn't as much of a fan of the system snapshots filling up my drive and having to go through yast to slowly delete them so i could update, and the ethernet port just not working

there used to be a little switch in yast to solve the snapper problem, but it was gobbled up by systemd and i couldn't be bothered to go through how systemd did it

@puppy yeah tumbleweed was alright when i used it other than a lot of system docs being obsoleted by systemd

@puppy i wonder if that was the real reasoning behind the first rolling-release software, just don't bother with coherent numbering

@sc it's the trend among record labels, etc. to just make stuff louder by removing the dynamic range. it kinda took off with digital mastering and editing, because it was suddenly much easier to just make the entire track *loud*. marketing was convinced that customers wanted this lousy mastering, so everyone was competing to make their releases like that. in the process, every instrument becomes the loudest in the mix and it just isn't as nice to listen to. sorta like hearing a giant drum in a quiet room versus hearing it while you've got a vacuum cleaner running, there's not that sudden *boom* that stands out

@sc the difference in loudness between quiet and loud parts in the mix. when you hear a drum kinda *kick* in a noticeable way, that's because it's loud in that very short period of time. more to explain than fits in a toot or that i know, but this is a good demonstration of it:
