ok so
sometimes when i copy a generated password by clicking the copy button in lastpass, it does this think where if i middle-click to paste it pastes the dots but ctrl+v pastes the password.
@Vann if this is X11, pasting is generally done from either primary selection or clipboard selection, and i've never really been able to remember which one is which
might be some heckery with selecting the text fields or whatever, try xclip to check what lastpass is putting in each selection
