@puppy yeah tumbleweed was alright when i used it other than a lot of system docs being obsoleted by systemd

@mallaidh i cant speak for how good opensuse is since its one of the few distros ive not actually tried yet, but im considering giving it a whirl at some time since its not as immediately horrifying as shit like gentoo lol

@mallaidh tis definitely the lesser spoken of "big lad" in the linux distro world. been around for fuckin ages, yet nowhere near as popular as the others. anyone you come across who uses it will speak nothing but wonders of it.

@puppy well i wasn't as much of a fan of the system snapshots filling up my drive and having to go through yast to slowly delete them so i could update, and the ethernet port just not working

there used to be a little switch in yast to solve the snapper problem, but it was gobbled up by systemd and i couldn't be bothered to go through how systemd did it

@mallaidh wouldve thought there'd be a setting to make those snapshots not happen so often? how big was each one?

@puppy not really sure how big, but it was like every time i used zypper to do package stuff, as well as when i used yast.

and the documentation for getting rid of old snapshots through systemd was, shockingly enough, just entirely inadequate compared to "change this single yes/no setting in yast"

like, yast is good at what hasn't been gobbled up by other programs

@puppy i remember something like a few gigabytes each time, and i never found a way to make btrfs tell me the size of each virtual partition or w/e so i could verify what was ballooning every go-round

@puppy yeah, not really missing it terribly. openbsd has been good other than the deluge of video driver errors on boot that take a while to all print out, "unclaimed register before interrupt."
