@SilviaFox it's a general purpose thing for like, how much energy you've got or where your mood is. sorta like the idea of spoons.
@mallaidh
Also what is spoons
Help I'm uninformed
@SilviaFox @mallaidh here's a article about it: https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/
the gist is that you have a finite amount of motivation to do stuff per day (your spoons), and you use it up as you do more things between resting
the battery emoji are just a different metaphor
@typhlosion @mallaidh
This is extremely helpful actually thank you
@SilviaFox @mallaidh Spoons are a metaphor for how much energy or cope you have. Primarily used in contexts of physical disability, but applies to mental illness just as well.
@mallaidh @SilviaFox I'd link to the original article, but the website administrator seems to have a thing for actively antagonistic adblocker hatred...
@SilviaFox i don't really have an expert understanding, but it's basically a metaphor for like, each action throughout the day takes a certain number of spoons, and most people have enough that they don't really run into issues often, and if they do it's not a big deal
but for folks with depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue issues, etc. they basically start each day with far fewer spoons to use, so not everything can be done in a day
just somewhat of a physical metaphor for something that's otherwise pretty abstract if you're neurotypical, physically able, etc.
@mallaidh
Oh
Well neat
