jeff gerstmann has probably my favorite tumblr, which is admittedly a low bar, but he exceeds it by a lot.

jeff gerstmann with the good opinions
like i think about how after the nick robinson Thing happened people went on and on decrying "soft boys" and "soft boy culture" as if either of those things had anything to do with nick's creepiness (as evidence for their disconnectedness i'll submit that griffin mcelroy, whether or not you like his work, has also been described as a "soft boy" and appears to be a pretty stand-up guy in a way nick robinson never did), but the process of listening to victims and actually making a nuanced judgement about the quality of someone's character is so much more difficult than just saying "man fuck soft boys"
like we (and i'm including myself in this) frequently say things like "never trust anyone who [has some character trait or owns some object or looks some way or has some opinion] because our pattern-hungry brains just love to assume that our experiences are universal and that correlation implies causation
and i want to be 100% clear this is largely unrelated to like, actual bigotry, it's just a way in which our brains are stupid and lead to us taking an easy way out rather than developing a nuanced moral philosophy
i'm slowly becoming more and more annoyed at simplistic attempts to determine "good" and "bad" people, and at similarly simplistic attempts to determine the criteria for being "good" or "bad" or worth trusting and admitting to your spaces

also some graphical stuff to figure out. i want the planets to have atmospheres but how that'll work is still unclear. i have a bit better of an idea how i want water to work though.
hmmm trying to figure out how to design the actual mechanics of this tiny planet game. i want(ed) to have planets orbiting stars and stuff but the orbits make hopping from star to star weird and also doesn't gel with the progression that i want.
designing this game is tricky since i'm not entirely sure what i want from it apart from "chill" and "pretty" and "cool". i want to have this loop of like progression -> exploration -> progression, but *not* a survival game. but like exploring gives you tools to explore more things which gives you tools etc
