my knowledge of compilers is:
- i know the phrase "abstract syntax tree", but not what it means
- i think i kind of know what "llvm" is
- i once heard someone say the word "lexer"
currently writing a compiler-ish thing with exactly zero knowledge about how compilers work

Also, this month's essay for $1+ patrons is up. It's about Bojack Horseman!
Last month's patreon essay about Tacoma is now public (sorry it took so long!): https://blood.church/tacoma-and-the-precarity-of-work-ecc3f00021d5
@sixthhokage1 @Efi oh ok it does have that, i didn't realize the "options" was a button and not like, the window title
but last night when i launched it there were two processes in the volume mixer, one which controlled the sound and one which controlled the music and it was super weird
@Efi but WHY though
just fuckin!!! put a slider in the options menu like a normal person!!!
@bea i wanna stream it again next week! i'm probably too dumb to finish it myself
alright i just found out that hiveswap was made in unity, which only makes the whole two-volume-sliders-in-the-mixer thing even MORE baffling
how do you even DO that
i take two pills a day
my FUCKIN pill
and my TRUCKIN pill
unfortunately my internet went out so. I'm not sure if stream will get a proper conclusion. hopefully?
let's play hiveswap, cheap golf, and more with @MegalLobsterFace over at https://www.twitch.tv/lycaonsgames!!
me: man i like windows 10 but the design makes it hard to put your mouse on the frames to resize them
me, a minute later, discovering that there is a feature where you can resize two windows at once to have them both fill the screen: never mind this rules
i think stuff like twine/yarn is good for games with infrequent choices but when you (like me) want to make something with a nearly constant stream of tiny choices i think something like ink is a better choice
previously i've used yarn (https://github.com/infiniteammoinc/yarn) to do narrative stuff, which was used for night in the woods, but i'm kind of sick of node-based interfaces
also ink has way more features and a whole load of really cool ones
this is my version of inktober
i've been playing around with ink (https://www.inklestudios.com/ink/) today and it's super rad
