@bombsfall yeah the local timeline is people on your instance (mastodon.social) while the federated timeline is every instance everywhere (that isn't blocked by your instance) so it's basically screaming hellworld

@lycaon @bombsfall correction: federated is everyone *followed by* ppl on your instance. So mastodon.social's is a giant firehose but smaller instances will have more manageable fed TLs.
