anyway due to technical difficulties after a few days of using linux i'm switching back to windows (though i'm actually upgrading to 10 this time)

linux is unusably bad software and never ever ever ever believe anyone who tells you it's good

@lycaon WORD

10 has linux in it anyway so ... i'm probably never gonna run linux on real hardware again unless something DRASTICALLY changes

and my first experiences with linux were as a sysadmin FIFTEEN YEARS AGO !!!

@lycaon @bea Eh, YMMV. I work on Windows all day (.NET webshit), and I have to say, it is a Tremendous Relief to get back to my Linux boxes. Windows isn't unusably bad anymore, but it is soulcrushingly tedious.

@gcupc @bea this post is bad and wrong and you're wrong

@bea @gcupc there are *things* I like about linux. I like being able to customize my desktop environment (however, when I tried to do that, it broke my computer and I had to stop trying to do that). I like package managers (however, I don't like having to go through a billion hoops to install something not available on the package manager). I like having a nice, usable command line! but so much software is broken on it, so much isn't available on it, and most of the stuff that *is* available on it is only available in a form vastly inferior to versions on other OSes.

@gcupc @bea it doesn't play nice with my graphics card; I have to unplug one of my monitors every time I start up because otherwise it breaks the display and I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to fix it.

MOVED @lycaon

@bea @gcupc It's constantly trying to pump audio into my monitor (which has no speakers) instead of my sound card to my headphones.

@gcupc @bea The autocomplete in bash is vastly inferior to the autocomplete in powershell; I have to match case in bash and it doesn't let you cycle through autocomplete options by hitting tab repeatedly.

@bea @gcupc The volume mixer has disappeared from my icon tray and I can't figure out why.

@gcupc @bea I could go on. Linux is a hot pile of garbage and I hate it.

@lycaon @gcupc this is about what i expected yep

glad to see not much has changed! will save myself the trouble of trying (which i go get tempted by every so often)

@lycaon that's why I use fish instead of bash! it's one of the best command lines I've ever used and I wish it was more common

@lizardsquid installed fish regretted it.

honestly given the rest of what is listed, doubt that fixes the overall issue :p

@lizardsquid did you see the rest of the list toots? fish wouldn't fix it :p

@lizardsquid oh eugh it was quite a curve from bash, porting my settings over as well as theming was a pain iirc

@LottieVixen oh yeah, I had to consciously ignore my bash settings and just build off the defaults of fish
