like we (and i'm including myself in this) frequently say things like "never trust anyone who [has some character trait or owns some object or looks some way or has some opinion] because our pattern-hungry brains just love to assume that our experiences are universal and that correlation implies causation

and i want to be 100% clear this is largely unrelated to like, actual bigotry, it's just a way in which our brains are stupid and lead to us taking an easy way out rather than developing a nuanced moral philosophy
