RADICAL THOUGHT
maybe the point of life *isn't* to accumulate wealth and capital but instead to have a nice time with your friends and loved ones and help others do so too
@Akatookey the good birds will find their way here
i think it's telling that even with all the hiccups and people i miss on the birdpage i'm so in love with this site and the people on it. I imagine a lot of us feel that way and whether or not mastodon "succeeds" is such a weird question to me? It kind of already has.
~awoooo~ etc
They all keep asking what an awoo is, but it's hard to explain other than by example. Ahem.
Awoo~
*whispers "re-toot" as she presses the retoot button*
Hi, welcome to Mastodon, you're now an anarcho communist.
Six reasons why Mastodon will fail
1. I don't like elephants or dinosaurs and a mastodon is both
2. Being distributed is an inherent flaw with no upsides
3. Toots is a silly word, unlike tweets which is a serious word
4. You need to remember a number, not a handle, and I don't like that and also I'm wrong about that
5. You can't search the whole network at once
6. Apps for a new thing have unpolished UX
@courtney @Akatookey that's ok we are new too! :tada:
straight people: you /never/ see many queers hanging out with each other, that's not realistic
queers: okay but what if 40000 of us make our own gay leftist social network and also call everything toots
More like six reasons clickbait websites will fail in the absence of a monolithic platform on which to promote content
Instances whose users refuse to awoo will be removed from federation
i am gonna eat so many figs and avocados this summer
workin' on a new font
this takes a ridiculous amount of precision but it looks so so satisfying when I get it right
#calligraphy
i'm extremely not interested in talking with anybody about whether or not mastodon will "last"
@shapiro maybe i'm misunderstanding, but it seems like you're equating community size with community longevity
