Also yeah literally just go canvas and do grassroots work and you'll see how things really work out there. You'll find plenty of unfashionable middle-aged working-class people of all races who absolutely will turn to socialism if you just talk to them in person, unbranded, about what that means. the ideas are actually very intuitive if you use plain language and try to be approachable.

my stance is that optics very much are important but it's also important to not sacrifice your actual actions over optics. Also, not to get so focused on bashing other people on your side over their optics that you end up basically siding with your opponent (or just becoming democrat centrists)

And also knowing your audience and which optics you want at which times.
