I'm thinking about the press we've got in the past. I think there's some self-fulfilling prophecy stuff going on with the messaging. It's all "it'd be nice, but..." and "can mastodon take on twitter?"
Imagine when that report came out that Twitter gained no new users, there would be an article like "twitter gained no users while 800,000 joined mastodon. what makes people flock to mastodon?" - feels like entirely different messaging, much more confidence-inspiring
