wearing all-black was never about being goth. it was protective coloration.
childhood associations made me feel it signified being threatening. like eyespots, or the bright colors of something venomous.
since me and my headmate reached our understanding, I don't feel as threatened. I feel safe enough that I can dress how I want. which, it turns out, isn't all-black at all.
after two really positive days in an outfit that feels like I nailed gender-appropriate clothing for the first time in ever
post-laundry I was shifting the mound of black clothing that is my wardrobe and I'm like
I think I'm done with all-black.
