This post https://backofthebookshelf.tumblr.com/post/160338761264/what-are-the-symptoms-of-adhd-besides discusses a few ways that ADHD can manifest that I've not seen mentioned elsewhere.
The specific part of interest for me is (paraphrased) when one learns to internally fulfill the need to Constantly Do Something Stimulating.
That is a very feasible explanation for all the noise and feelings and spaceiness in this brain.
@kitsch I have thoughts on this, but I am being dragged out to dinner.
@woozle I'm certainly interested in hearing them when you get a chance
@woozle
I don't think I've heard anything you've written about emptiness as an autistic thing. (Maybe I just breezed past without taking it in ><.)
(I've also definitely also heard it said that autism and ADHD are related, which makes some sense to me.)
@woozle Ooh. Pieces of info to add to the mental library. Thank you!
@kitsch @woozle Autism and ADHD do have overlap this includes difficulty with social stuff and attachment disturbances, they can co-exist an autistic can have ADHD (though they tend to meet ADHD-PI more often) in ADHD there is a reduction in Arousal in the mesocortical pathway leading to the lack of stimulation, while in autism they have a higher global arousal (except in the previous mentioned pathway) and reduced arousal in vagus circuit leading to overstim sensitivity.
@codeawayhaley I'm afraid I'm having difficulty parsing most of this, but thank you for reaching out with info
@kitsch I *think* this was the thread I was thinking of -- note specifically @codeawayhaley 's 4th(?) response: https://toot.cat/@woozle/3428680 -- though there were some additional detached toots.
