I'm a bit unsure wether to use the CW button for actual content warning or more for writing a header/CN

I see people doing the one or the other and asking for the one or the other, and I'm not sure which topics (beside from obvious ones) should get CW and which needn't.

also, a political / not political divide regarding CWs doesn't work for me, when I in my view everyday life is as political as some explicitly political action

@kikir I think you're very free to use it for more than just political topics. I could CW toots just for being really really long for example :)

some people use it for memes or joke questions. I don't think it bothers anyone if it's used like caption, it only can annoy people if it's not used even though it would have been needed, like for difficult painful topics.

so just use it as much as you like, try it out! :)

@distelfliege I thought that would be a good idea, too, but then saw that people asked to use it not like that.

but I see, I'll have to develop a practice that makes sense for me and that also pays attention to other people's needs (:

@kikir ah ok.. I think I missed that. there were some complaints couple weeks ago when ppl thought the CW feature was not used when it should have been used, and there was criticism that using it for memes could lead to it not being taken seriously enough..

but I've seen lots of meme-related CW usage since then and tbh I think it's funny. :eo_smile_cat:

@kikir I think I'm CW-poly.
in my eyes, using it for memes takes nothing away from using it for serious topics or personal stuff.

@distelfliege I see it similarly, which means using it more in a content 'note' way. also in my opinion this way I don't make a decision what other people need to be warned about and what not
