@nev hope spooder frand is okay :{
@thatdelphox I've had a few hints of connection with Anansi, or at least with some spider deity (I feel a bit weird about claiming it's Anansi, that's kinda appropriative coming from an off-white American, maybe), in connection with listening to "Spider Dance"
I was moved sufficiently to at least get a book of Anansi stories
I feel like maybe getting in touch with the spider side could be useful for work, where I'm often having to thread my way carefully and watch my footing and so forth
(also had a friend suggest that I needed Anansi's help if I was to have any hope of finishing "Ori and the Blind Forest" >_>)
@thatdelphox kyoooot <3
@Terrana oh, it's easy for me! just watch! *manages to scramble upright for a few seconds, noodly body weaving about on hind legs, short wings extended in an attempt to keep balance, and then xe falls over*
I think it’s probably good form to do an #introduction here.
I’m John, in internet spaces I often go by Sam (it’s a reference, talk to me if you want to know more.) I’m a student, I want to have a career singing opera, I maintain servers on the side as a hobby. I use bisexual to describe myself, though you could call me pan—my attraction is to the same and different gender expressions.
As a queer feminist with anarchist leanings, this place seems right. Feel free to talk to me!
tfw randos try to pet you at a bar cause your fur is so soft
so, this was also kind of a trial run, to give me an idea of how long it'd take to make something like this and the answer is...eh, a few hours, with a fair amount of waiting-time in that
like, the actual carving didn't take as long as you might think, but I've had a bit of practice on other pieces by now
because I kinda wanna make stuff like this for sale?
like...would you buy something like this for $10 or $8 or whatever
here's some photos of intermediate stages of construction
I traced the symbol onto a scrap of walnut using carbon paper, then carved it out w/ various Dremel bits
then packed the hollows w/ red Sculpey, baked it, & sanded it all down level w/ two grades of paper
finally gave it 3 coats of shellac, drying & sanding between coats

this is a piece I did yesterday for @Ulfra_Wolfe, showing the "Children of Gaia" symbol from "Werewolf: The Apocalypse"
it's not perfect, but I am happy with it https://occult.camp/media/Au2iQ-aAwHvXo_XOCo8
Vero’s in the new sofa-market makes a horchata latte and I have been reborn. #FC2018
you know, I haven't used the Chaos Star much as a symbol yet, although it's sort of appropriate to me
a while back I spent a bit of time poking around online trying to find what sort of symbols or sigils folks used to indicate Loki and, rather fittingly, came up with no definite answers. Contemporary Lokeans have used a lot of different things
the Chaos Star does seem to be one of them
various runes
snake-themed symbols
(any #Lokean folks out there in the fediverse? I don't consider myself "Lokean" per se but they _are_ one of my most important deities #askmastodon)
felt like I needed to draw another #tarot card before going to bed and drew the Page of Swords
that's not one I have a sense for, although it looks slightly menacing (pic below)
any thoughts anyone https://occult.camp/media/KljHGWYOv_AV-OPMSFE
@mawr *dives into pillow zone*
*sniffs around and stumbles across something completely unexpected, an old picture*
...wow
I haven't looked like this in a while *giggles, a little wistful*
I don't remember who drew this either https://dragon.style/media/2jjCzndod5_GwzhsuGI
