I think what we appreciate most about magick is that as a practice and an experience, it’s wide open. Anyone can freestyle witchcraft in whatever way feels right to them. There aren’t a lot of hard-and-fast rules. (Except for using salt and ironically or un-ironically saying “The moon is my wife”)
@electricwitch @Qwyrdo yes yes yes! nobody can tell you what's going to be meaningful to you! it's different for everybody. nobody can tell you what's shiny for _you_, what's magickal for _you_, you have to find out for yourself :}
@kel @electricwitch @Qwyrdo well, there _is_ value in tradition, in meaning that's been built up by collective knowledge. it can't _all_ be _strictly_ personal, I don't think...
@kara @electricwitch @Qwyrdo well, sure, but even there you have to work out for yourself what parts of the tradition speak to you. if _none_ of a "tradition" is shiny to you, then...what use is it?
@electricwitch @kara @Qwyrdo oh? rebranding how? interested!! *earfrills snap to attention*
@electricwitch @kel very sensible values! I do fear wasps and bees, a little, but I also like them, and try to leave them unmolested as much as possible.
we have been stung, once, but it was not serious.
@kara @kel We were stung on the scalp by a bee when we were young. And because of neurodivergence, we were scared that we still had it years afterward because we thought we could feel the stinger there 🙄
Pashmina, our system coordinator, gets especially gooey about vespids and calls them her babies. She’s not really a gooey person, it takes a lot to make her squee at something rofl.
@kel @electricwitch Kel is into sea critters, reptiles, bugs (including spiders and similar in that broad category)
Mona is all about horses of course
I'm closest to cats
Chara likes hot goatboi butts
@electricwitch @kara we have a snek! her name is Waxie and when we get a chance we'll rustle up some pics. she's a ball python :}
@kel @kara (Untagging Qwyrdo to avoid spamming zer) We have a funny history with vespids. Never been stung by a single one, even when a colony of German yellowjackets built a fucking nest in our bedroom closet. We associate them with protection, engineering, teamwork, matriarchy, innovation, and disguise. Yellowjackets, wasps, and hornets will come tickle us, and we’ll try to occupy them with something sugary if other people are afraid of being stung (:
