@Damage yeah, I had an experience like that, where I cracked a "Pyrex" bowl by trying to melt butter in the microwave in it, and I couldn't believe it; I'd directly heated Pyrex labware over open flames and it didn't do that.

sleep fitfully indeed last night. partly that was "Mother 3". did that game weave a subtle spell, or was it something far simpler than that?

Playing "Mother 3" was like being packed in a car with a selection of friends who sometimes get on your nerves, and then taking a very long roadtrip to see the Grand Canyon

part of you is saying the whole time, sometimes saying aloud, that it's ridiculous to go see something that you've already seen so many pictures of, and have to change drivers all the time and stop to pee every fifty miles and eat crappy roadside diner food and it's booooring

and then you get there

@kara_dreamer Yeah, for two games _heavily_ influenced by EarthBound, I have a harder time comparing Mother 3 and Undertale than one might think.

Like, Undertale is so much shorter but all about really getting to know and fall in love with its characters. Mother 3 is... brutally watching the world fall apart while you join with what few allies you can find to do what little you can do.

I'm never going to emote over anyone in Mother 3 like I'd, say, cry over Asriel. But that outside world, full of Floweys, where not everything can be solved by being nice... that's what Mother 3 is about, to me. (Among other things.)

@listelian like...as a "subcreation", Undertale works better. That's a pocket universe that's given a lot more thought and love.

but "Mother 3" creates a cool place too and I'm glad I was able to help with that

and..."Mother 3" is done.

It was worth it, in the end.

next week I will start my playthrough of "Hiveswap"

"I'll see you tomorrow, Chara." Frisk smiled their luminous smile, brown eyes twinkling, and they turned for the door.

"Wait." I shot out a hand, grabbing Frisk's wrist before they moved away. They stopped and turned back, their eyes now questioning me.

"Anything wrong, Chara? I can stay longer if you want."

I let go Frisk's wrist and shoved both my hands awkwardly in my pockets. "I just... wanna ask you a question. Just one question." I fixed my eyes on Frisk's chin.
