I'm gonna try to practice mindfulness on my way to and from school, for at least part of the walk. Good way to clear my mind while transitioning between home and school, rather than finding dozens of things to think about in the interim by checking Mastodon/Discord etc. the whole time.
@kara_dreamer Basically, I'm observing my sensory information without judging or otherwise processing it. My ACT group facilitators liked to use the word "notice" for this, and it's fitting: you're just acknowledging the sights, sounds, etc., and that's all.
You handle distracting thoughts like this too: notice that they're there and are normal, then direct your attention back to what you were noticing before. (Usually I focus on noticing one sense at a time, or even one specific area of it.)
