my partner and i talked about space last night, in the context of mars colonization. she said, "i wouldn't want to be an astronaut or a colonist." i thought about it and felt like, yeah, me neither. my gut rejects getting anywhere near to the opportunity to become the next major tom. even in space i really just want to code stuff and maintain machines 🤷
@garbados I can't imagine putting up with the extreme privation, honestly. I like my creature comforts, and being on strict rationing, having very few personal possessions available, etc. is a bit difficult for me to imagine
