I wonder how best to make such a game competitive. I think I'd go for cards over a board, because using a board implies that all the players are working in the same factory, whereas with cards each player would build their own factory represented by their deck. Hrm, Yet Another Deck-Building Game?
@TipsyTentacle oh! I had to look that up XD could you name a specific example or two?
@kara_dreamer
Race for the Galaxy
7 Wonders
@TipsyTentacle @kara_dreamer You might also want to have a look at
Machi Koro :)
@kellerfuchs @kara_dreamer also a great game, thank you
@TipsyTentacle @kara_dreamer You are welcome :)
@kara_dreamer Might I suggest it be not competitive?
@benhamill I am giving that thought as well. I do enjoy coöp games. that would imply coming up with a cast of characters perhaps, to give players to choose from
@kara_dreamer Or roles, at least, a la Forbidden Desert/Island. Maybe it's not a good idea for your idea. I just figured it might be worth exploring.
@benhamill the trick is coming up with a good balanced set of merits / demerits for characters. I thought of a couple silly ideas for characters, like having an "investor's wastrel son" (guarantees extra funding at the start but the guy's useless as a worker.)
@kara_dreamer Hah! That's great. If it's co-op you could have a logistics person that can moved other players' stuff (think pilot from Forbidden Things or Operations Expert from Pandemic). IDK what other mechanics you had in mind or anything.
@benhamill oh, I've very little mapped out at the moment XD I'm rather liking the coöp idea more than the competitive game idea, perhaps, because it means I can make the playing field more complicated.
@kara_dreamer you could do it in a tableu style. :P
