@Maenad There's one fictional depiction that I can almost buy, and that's the "farther up and further in" ending to the otherwise deeply problematical "The Last Battle" of C. S. Lewis. He does a reasonable job, as I recall, of showing how heaven can be both intensely familiar, yet also enormous and containing every imaginable possibility. It's a bit like a dream where you find yourself in a familiar room yet within moments find yourself someplace completely different just from walking down a corridor.
